VITA names chief operating officer

Will serve as advisor to CIO, manage services and governance
(RICHMOND) -

The Virginia Information Technologies Agency (VITA) announced today that Jonathan Ozovek, former chief operating officer (COO) of GetSwift, has been named the new COO for VITA effective Aug. 12.

As COO of a publicly-traded start-up company on the Australian stock exchange, Mr. Ozovek was responsible for all company operations, including the sales, human resources and technology departments. He was selected following a nationwide search.

“Jonathan has far ranging expertise in process design and engineering, transformation and innovation, and we are pleased that he has agreed to join VITA,” said Nelson Moe, chief information officer (CIO) of the commonwealth and agency head of VITA. “His main strength is in process improvement. We value his experience and look forward to his leadership in finding workable solutions to help us in the transformation of state government technology.”

Ozovek will serve as a primary advisor to the CIO, providing counsel to executive level management on a broad range of operations, customer service, IT management and financial issues. He will manage VITA’s customer service and investment governance, IT infrastructure service program operations/projects, IT platform governance, IT finance, supply chain management (contracts), and application and enterprise services.

In addition to experience with health care, financial and technology companies, Ozovek holds a bachelor of science in computer science and accounting from the University of Scranton, a master’s in business administration from Marist College, and is currently a Ph.D. candidate in organizational change methods at the University of the Cumberlands.

VITA is the state’s technology agency responsible for IT services and governance, cybersecurity, geographic information systems and emergency communications coordination. It provides IT services to 63 state agencies, including their offices in more than 2,200 sites across the commonwealth and personal computers for 55,000 state employees.
