Melinda Stewart, winning an award for Web Modernization Project

Join us in congratulating Melinda Stewart; she is the recipient of two major honors in the Scoop News Group #StateScoop50 awards program! She is one of the State Leaders of the Year, slated for key IT leaders driving new technologies, strategies and IT programs:

Melinda Stewart, chief of the Virginia IT Agency’s enterprise solutions team, recently led a transformational Website Modernization Program to modernize the Commonwealth’s executive branch agency websites to provide an accessible, trusted, cohesive and secure digital experience for all Virginians. With Melinda's leadership and support, VITA used a collaborative approach and introduced new tools to agencies. The program has created many programmatic partnerships that are setting the Commonwealth up for compounding success in the future!

Melinda's leadership was key to the Website Modernization Program itself winning an award, "State IT Innovation of the Year"

The Commonwealth of Virginia's Website Modernization Program has grown over the past couple of years to modernize Virginia state government websites. By working closely with all agencies, the program team provided for new tools and solutions, updated web standards, training and unified branding to create a trusted, cohesive, secure, accessible and streamlined customer experience for all 8.6 million Virginians. The program has been remarkably successful. In just a year, the enterprise improved from 44% accessibility compliance to over 88%. A new branding bar was deployed to 100% of public-facing sites to ensure consistency. Using similar tools and programs provided shared knowledge and collective problem solving, which saved money, time and resources across the enterprise.

Congratulations to Melinda, the Website Modernization Program team, and our many Commonwealth executive branch agency partners for your incredible achievements!
