We are proud to share that Bob Osmond, Chief Information Officer of the Commonwealth, has been named one of Government Technology's Top 25 Doers, Dreamers and Drivers for 2025. Read his profile here.
Throughout Bob’s tenure leading a customer agency and serving as CIO for the Commonwealth, he’s worked tirelessly to transform and modernize technology in Virginia.
Under Bob’s leadership, Virginia continues to lead the way in technological progress. Recent examples include dramatically improving network capacity for state agencies, defending against over 100 million cyberattacks annually, modernizing all Commonwealth websites, creating industry-leading artificial intelligence (AI) standards and simplifying the cross-agency permitting process.
Bob is also leading the development of a six-year plan for all technology projects, ensuring the Commonwealth is well-prepared for the future. Congratulations, Bob!

For nearly a quarter century, Government Technology’s Top 25 Doers, Dreamers and Drivers awards have honored those who work tirelessly at the state and local levels to propel government toward the future. This year’s group is made up of CIOs, CISOs, and innovation and data officers, as well as those pushing for advancements in AI, accessibility and education.
