3-2-1 Backup Rule

A fundamental backup methodology that requires at least three total copies of data:
3 includes: one live production copy and two backup copies, 2 of which are local but on different mediums/devices representing two different media/methods, and 1 represents a single off-site copy supporting disaster recovery (DR).
