VITA awards voice, data network services contract
The Virginia Information Technologies Agency (VITA) has awarded Verizon a five-and-a-half year, $297.3 million amendment to an existing contract to provide voice and data network services for state agencies.
Verizon will assume voice and data network services as one supplier in the new multisourcing services environment on Dec. 15. The move to this new model is a change from a long-term, one supplier contract.
After taking over the existing environment, Verizon will make significant efforts to modernize services. Continuous improvements to services will ensure a more flexible model and provide the ability to keep pace with industry standards.
The original contract provided a set of individual voice and data network services. The modification is designed to bring voice and data network services together in an integrated fashion.
Verizon is a global telecommunications conglomerate headquartered in New York City. It provides a wide array of services including cable television, fixed-line and mobile telephone, broadband services, digital media, and communication networks.
