Contract awarded for advanced managed security services

VITA has awarded a contract to Atos to provide advanced managed security services
(Richmond, VA) -

The Virginia Information Technologies Agency (VITA) has awarded a contract to Atos to provide advanced managed security services to executive branch agencies.

The award is the next step in VITA’s vision of a secure, agile multisourced information technology (IT) infrastructure.

“Atos will provide IT security – one of the essential components of our new multisourced infrastructure services,” said Nelson Moe, chief information officer of the commonwealth and VITA agency head. “The contract provides for security monitoring, reporting and response, and network and platform protection. VITA, state executive branch agencies, our suppliers of other infrastructure services and Atos will work together to achieve a level of security that continues to protect the data entrusted to the commonwealth and enhances that security.”

Under the monitoring, reporting and response category, Atos will be responsible for security incident management, digital forensic investigations, response preparedness, and security monitoring, log management and analysis.

In the area of network and platform protection, Atos will provide services such as endpoint encryption, malware protection, network protection services, data protection services, web content monitoring and web application protection services.

Atos in the United States will provide the services for Virginia. Atos’ parent company is headquartered in Europe. It specializes in hi-tech transactional services, unified communications, cloud, big data and cybersecurity services. Atos has approximately 100,000 employees in 73 countries serving a global client base. Value of the award is $120 million over five years. The contract contains extension clauses.

VITA is moving to a multisourced infrastructure environment. Its long-term contract with the current infrastructure services provider expires June 30, 2019, after 13 years. New suppliers with shorter contracts are taking over services. VITA has signed contracts for messaging, mainframe, multisourcing service integration and managed security services. Contracts are expected to be signed soon for server/storage/data center, end-user services and voice/data/network services.
