Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX)

Definition

A logo used by the WiMAX Forum for certifying product compatibility with the IEEE 802.16 standard. The 802.16 working group of IEEE specializes in point-to-multipoint broadband wireless access. IEEE 802.16 or WiMAX is a standard for wireless technology that provides     high-throughput broadband connections over long distances. WiMAX can be used for a number of applications, including “last mile” broadband connections, hotspots and cellular backhaul, and high-speed enterprise connectivity for business.
