Commonwealth AI Strategy Report published by AI Task Force
On January 14, 2026, Governor Glenn Youngkin's artificial intelligence (AI) task force published a comprehensive AI strategy report, focusing on initiatives and accomplishments across education, workforce development, and energy infrastructure, as well as designing a legal framework and encouraging the smart use of AI in state-level government.
The task force report spotlights the Virginia IT Agency's internal policy, its AI registry for analysis and approval of new use cases, as well as VITA's efforts to appropriately explore AI through training, proofs of concept, and pilot applications.
