Emerging talent
VITA is committed to supporting the next generation of leaders and innovators. Our internship, associate and junior associate programs provide emerging talent with valuable hands-on experience, mentorship and professional development opportunities. We offer programs for both high school and college students, as well as recent college graduates.
Summer internship program

VITA is helping students get a jump start on their career as part of our 2026 internship program.
The VITA internship program is an opportunity for college students to unlock their potential at the Commonwealth's IT agency. Interns will work alongside seasoned professionals and receive a comprehensive introduction to a real-world professional experience.
During the internship program, interns:
- Benefit from personalized guidance by experienced professionals invested in their growth.
- Connect with industry leaders, expand their network and open doors for future opportunities.
- Gain proficiency in key business functions while contributing to exciting projects that shape the Commonwealth.
This paid, nine-week program runs from June 1 to Aug. 7. VITA has 21 intern openings on teams across the agency, including administration, communications, legislative services, security, supply chain management, data engineering, finance and more. Interns will work part-time, in person at the VITA office in North Chesterfield.
All college students enrolled in a two-year, four-year or graduate-level degree program, including those with disabilities, are encouraged to apply.
The application for the 2026 internship program will close on Feb. 25.
