Information Technology Advisory Council (ITAC) The Information Technology Advisory Council is responsible for advising and making recommendations to the Chief Information Officer (CIO) of the Commonwealth and the Secretary of Administration regarding information technology in the Commonwealth.

The structure of ITAC, and its powers and duties, are set forth in sections 2.2-2699.5 & 2.2-2699.6 of the Code of Virginia. ITAC was reorganized by Chapter 260 and Chapter 261 of the 2022 Acts of Assembly.

Members

ITAC consists of up to 20 members, including:

  • The CIO of the Commonwealth,
  • The Secretary of Administration,
  • Another of the Governor’s Secretaries,
  • Four members of the House of Delegates, appointed by the Speaker of the House,
  • Three members of the Senate, appointed by the Senate Committee on Rules, and
  • An even number of nonlegislative citizens to be appointed by the Governor,

Anyone interested in being appointed by the Governor to ITAC can submit an application on the Secretary of Commonwealth’s Website.
