Governor Timothy M. Kaine honored Virginia state agencies for their exemplary work to increase procurement opportunities for Small, Women and Minority businesses in the Commonwealth. “During my administration we have tripled the amount of state expenditures for SWaM businesses in the Commonwealth,” Governor Kaine said. Beverley Coleman, Supplier Diversity Program Manager at VITA, was presented with a Special Recognition Award for her contributions with the SWaM initiative and continued collaborations with DMBE.

85 people participated in the Commonwealth’s Information Security Officers Advisory Group (ISOAG) meeting Nov. 18 held at the SCC in Richmond. Participants were from the executive (including higher education), judicial and legislative branches of state government, independent agencies and localities. The keynote presentations were made by Steve Werby, Virginia Commonwealth University, on an “Identity Theft Prevention Program”. Additional topics included IT Seppuku: Why Do We Still Suffer Security Violations?; User Privilege Levels, Social Networking and World Wild Web. The session was hosted by Commonwealth Chief Information Security Officer John Green and VITA. The next meeting is from 1-4 p.m., Wed., Dec. 9, at CESC in Chester.
