9-1-1 Comprehensive Plan webinar

VITA's Integrated Service Program (ISP) staff and Mission Critical Partners (MCP) are hosting a webinar for the 9-1-1 Comprehensive Plan update. The webinar will be held Wed., May 20 at 2 p.m. This is an opportunity to learn more about how this important planning document is being developed and to discuss initial themes and recommendations.

Virginia Wireless Call processing training webinar

May 5, 2015

On Tues., May 12 at 2 p.m., a webinar will be offered on the Virginia Wireless Call processing training program that VITA developed and recently updated. This training program was developed to help telecommunicators understand the complexities of wireless E-911 and the methods for processing wireless calls. The webinar will review the program and content while giving telecommunicators the tools to be able to conduct the training that will benefit dispatch staff. PSAPs with an internal training staff are encouraged to participate.

Approval of the GIS Strategic Plan

April 24, 2015

The Virginia Geographic Information Network (VGIN) Advisory Board has adopted the 2015-2020 Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Strategic Plan. The plan is the result of outreach and engagement efforts with the commonwealth’s GIS stakeholders. There are three strategic goals in the plan: coordination and collaboration with key state and local government stakeholders; technical services and products by enhancing development and access to base mapping; and education and best practices with training on VGIN products and services and government-provided geospatial products and services.

NG9-1-1 governance and legislative recommendations

April 1, 2015

The NG9-1-1 Feasibility Study contained a total of 57 recommendations that addressed governance and legislative issues. 27 of those recommendations will be addressed this year. In the upcoming weeks and months, VITA's integrated services staff will hold meetings that that will focus on those recommendations.

The Policy Committee will meet: April 28, May 14, June 18 and July 9

The PSAP Grant Committee will meet: April 9 and April 27 with tentative dates of May 18 and June 16
