Secretary of Technology Karen Jackson hopes to 'move the needle'

As the first female Virginia secretary of technology, Poquoson native Karen Jackson realizes she may be a role model. "Every day that you get up and you do things, you hope somebody either sees something in what you're doing and catches a spark to do something similar, or you move the needle," Jackson said. Jackson is the senior adviser to Gov. Terry McAuliffe on technology policy and is responsible for developing ways to spur innovation, entrepreneurship and tech development throughout the state. She also oversees Virginia's information technology infrastructure.
