Application Integration Services (AIS) provide agencies with secure hosting and integration services for their applications. The services include the people, processes and technology necessary to integrate agency applications.
All the AIS services include the following features:
The AIS team at VITA will work in close collaboration with customers to understand requirements and develop solutions comprising of one or more AIS service(s) that best meet the customer’s needs. The solution effort is provided at no cost to the customer. The AIS team will then work with the customer to implement solutions using best practice methodologies that allow customers to realize the significant value of integrated applications.
AIS includes the following services:
Application Messaging (AM)
Application Messaging (AM) is a messaging middleware service that allows agencies to securely integrate applications across multiple platforms. The AM service is implemented using IBM MQ platforms. AM service provides a unified messaging solution that offers agencies the capability to send and exchange information across diverse applications and multiple platforms through the use of message queues. Agencies can use message queues to facilitate the exchange of information between applications, systems, services and files.
Business Rules Management (BRM)
The Business Rules Management (BRM) service offers agencies a robust system for managing and accessing business logic. The BRM service is implemented using IBM Operational Decision Manager (ODM) platforms. The IBM ODM platform consists of two components, IBM Decision Center and IBM Decision Server. The BRM service provides agencies with capabilities for capturing, automating and governing frequent, repeatable business decisions.
Enterprise Service Bus (ESB)
The Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) service enables agencies to simplify, expedite, and streamline their application integration. The ESB service is implemented using IBM Integration Bus (IIB) platforms. The ESB service provides agencies with a framework for designing and implementing integration between applications and systems. Application integrations are data exchanges across the flexible, dynamic, and extensible ESB infrastructure. The integrations provide the ability to perform operations on the data as it is processed across the ESB infrastructure.
One of the key benefits of the ESB service is the ability to transform data as it is exchanged between applications. Agencies with specific data transformation needs have an opportunity to include the OPTIONAL SERVICES along with the ESB service. These services are priced separately and are only available as additions to the ESB service.
ESB OPTIONAL SERVICES:
Mailing Address Verification (MAV)
The Mailing Address Verification (MAV) service is a real-time address verification service. Agencies subscribing to MAV can utilize real-time address verification in agency applications using the latest United States USPS® data to validate addresses to the apartment/suite level. MAV also provides latitude and longitude, business/residence or county code data.
AIS Application Server (AIS-APPSVR)
The AIS Application Server (AIS-APPSVR) service offers agencies an application server platform for hosting agency applications. The AIS-APPSVR service is implemented on the IBM WebSphere Application Server platform. The AIS-APPSVR service provides agencies with secure, robust, standards based and highly-available environments for hosting agency Java Enterprise Edition (Java EE) applications.
AIS Database (AIS-DB)
The AIS Database (AIS-DB) service provides agencies with highly-available database services. The AIS-DB service is implemented on Oracle’s Real Application Clusters (RAC) platform and provides a database administered and maintained by VITA. The AIS-DB service includes Oracle Clusterware, a clustering software which allows multiple individual servers to act as a single server. The AIS-DB service also comes with Oracle Advanced Security, which provides encryption of data at rest (using Transparent Data Encryption) and in transit (using Oracle native encryption SSL). The AIS Database (AIS-DB) service is currently only offered to support other AIS Services. The AIS-DB service is available to customers to use in combination with Application Messaging (AM), Business Rules Mangaement (BRM) Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) and/or AIS Application Server (AIS-APPSVR).
