Please disconnect from the virtual private network (VPN) when not in use.
A VPN connection is not required to use Gmail, Google Calendar, other Google Apps, Cardinal, SharePoint and other Microsoft Office 365 applications. VPN is only necessary when accessing file shares at your agency and other tools that are not accessible via the internet.
Below you will find a listing of many commonwealth applications that DO NOT require a VPN connection. This list is not comprehensive, and some agencies may have applications with similar names that require VPN. We will continue to update this list.

Cardinal requires Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) to access the Cardinal Portal from outside the Commonwealth of Virginia (COV) network. When users log into Cardinal from outside the COV network for the first time, they are prompted to configure MFA. If the user does not select the do not challenge me on this device again option, they will be prompted to enter the information based on the authentication option selected when they configured MFA. If issues are encountered with one of these browsers, try the other browser option.
