2019 Datathon to focus on equity in education

Governor Ralph Northam has announced the 2019 Virginia Datahon will focus on addressing inequities in Virginia's educational system. The Datathon will take place Oct. 3-4 at the Library of Virginia in downtown Richmond.

The Datathon is a competition designed to bring together multidisciplinary teams from government agencies, higher education, private industries and nonprofit organizations. Participants will use new and existing datasets to create actionable information that will be used to support Virginia's goal of improving educational outcomes and promoting equity.

The sixth annual Datathon kicks off at 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 3. Approximately 20 teams will participate. Subject matter experts from the Office of the Secretary of Education, local governments and nonprofit organizations will be on hand to collaborate and answer questions.
