Storage Services are those necessary to support applications and their use of data volumes. The services include support of the hardware, operating systems, and tools necessary to operate a continuous environment. Standard hardware, enterprise software, and tools will be deployed. The tools will be deployed to provide automation and reporting. These services offer periodic backup archiving and the ability to consolidate data from multiple company locations. Storage Services design and implementation has a large impact on today's distributed systems disaster recovery. If a storage system is designed with multiple locations, redundancy, and real-time snapshots in mind, the resulting environment can totally replace the need for tape backups. All prices listed as "recurring" are monthly recurring rates.

Tier 2 is highly available high performance storage:

  • IOPS counts up to 15,000
  • End to End redundancy through storage frame
  • Remote Administration and Automated tools in place
  • Provisioning changes are transparent
  • Fees include labor and setup costs to install and verify Tier 2 storage installation and changes
  • Overhead penalties for mirroring or other RAID configurations are not included
  • Data is replicated to the disaster recovery location
  • Tier 2 storage is backed up per standard backup processes and schedule

Additional Fees: Service request may also include "nonrecurring" implementation fees to cover labor and setup costs.

How to Order

Effective 12/15/18, this service can be ordered from the VITA Service Catalog in the new VITA Service Portal. To submit your request:

  • Customers who have Commonwealth of Virginia (COV) accounts (including executive branch agencies) should access the VITA Service Catalog via the VITA Service Portal to place service requests using the automated form provided in the catalog.
  • Customers who do not have COV accounts (including some local government customers) or customers who are unable to gain access to the portal may order the service by sending an e-mail to the VITA Customer Care Center (VCCC) services desk at Please include the following information:
    • The words "Service request" in the "Subject" line
    • The name of the service being ordered
    • The quantity desired (if applicable)
    • Any other information you deem relevant

If you are uncertain as to whether you have a COV account, start by trying to access the VITA Service Portal. If you are unable to do so, then use the email-to-the-VCCC method.
