This standard work request allows agencies to order additional security for servers deployed in the infrastructure provided by VITA. The service will provide agencies with enhanced server operating system (OS security) for specific servers (physical and virtual). VITA will perform ESOSS rule updates in collaboration with the eligible agencies for new or upgraded eligible applications up to 12 times per year per server at no additional fee; thereafter, an Eligible Customer may request additional configuration changes, which work will be priced separately, through the work request process.

Cost basis is monthly. There is a one-time set up fee charge of $3,113.42 per each physical or virtual server instance. See Enhanced Server Operating System Security (ESOSS) - Set Up Fee for more information.


The following conditions must be met to use the standard work request form:

  1. Agencies must be receiving infrastructure services from VITA.
  2. This request is not part of incident resolution (i.e.: to resolve and close an incident ticket).
  3. This request is not being processed through the VCCC (Q-ticket).
  4. Server must meet requirements set forth on the standard work request form in the forms library.

How to Order

Effective 12/15/18, this service can be ordered from the VITA Service Catalog in the new VITA Service Portal. To submit your request:

  • Customers who have Commonwealth of Virginia (COV) accounts (including executive branch agencies) should access the VITA Service Catalog via the VITA Service Portal to place service requests using the automated form provided in the catalog.
  • Customers who do not have COV accounts (including some local government customers) or customers who are unable to gain access to the portal may order the service by sending an e-mail to the VITA Customer Care Center (VCCC) services desk at Please include the following information:
    • The words "Service request" in the "Subject" line
    • The name of the service being ordered
    • The quantity desired (if applicable)
    • Any other information you deem relevant

If you are uncertain as to whether you have a COV account, start by trying to access the VITA Service Portal. If you are unable to do so, then use the email-to-the-VCCC method.
