Virginia Parcels Workgroup

Back to Strategic Plan

Overview

As part of its Five Year Strategic Plan, VGIN is forming a workgroup to discuss parcel datasets and associated issues in the Commonwealth. This Workgroup would be charged with exploring the state of GIS-based property ownership and tax parcel datasets, with an eye towards developing data standards, and possibly a future statewide GIS parcels layer.

VGIN will be hosting a telephone conference on August 27th, 2013 from 2 – 3 PM to discuss the new Parcels Workgroup and to develop some initial action steps for the group.  Topics will include:

  • An inventory of existing parcel datasets
  • Parcel data standards and best practices
  • Secure sharing of parcel datasets  in the existing clearinghouse
  • The potential for a seamless statewide parcel spatial database.

This call is meant to be inclusive of any interested party with regards to Virginia parcel datasets. Conference call information will be delivered closer to the date of the call,  To insure you are included in that announcement send an email to John Scrivani john.scrivani@vita.virginia.gov indicating your interest.
