October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month

Gov. Ralph Northam has declared October as Cybersecurity Awareness Month in Virginia, to coincide with National Cybersecurity Awareness Month.

Cybersecurity efforts are more important now than ever. The threat of hackers, malware and cyber crimes in our daily lives is very real. By practicing good cybersecurity habits each day, all citizens can reduce their threat surface. Cybersecurity is a shared responsibility.

Use strong, unique passwords for each account and website visited. Frequently update browsers and operating systems. Use two-factor authentication when available. Help children by monitoring internet activity and utilizing parental controls.
